The police patrols have been a great success. Since February of this year, Captain M. Hurley has been on patrol four hours per week at a cost of $50 per hour, or $200 per week. Traffic warnings as well as tickets have been issued to motorists for speeding, running stop signs, driving without a license, expired inspection stickers, and other infractions. Despite efforts to increase GVCA memberships to cover the cost of the patrols, participation is not at the level needed to continue the number of patrols we have presently. A motion was made and passed to change the number of patrols from 4 times a month to 2 times per month.
Captain Hurley was present and confirmed the need for patrols in our neighborhood. He has been recognized as a top traffic enforcement officer due to his patrols in our small but traffic-heavy neighborhood. Captain Hurley was thanked for agreeing to continue assisting with patrols at a reduced level.
